French Prairie Farm lies in the rich meadows and bottomlands of the Petit Jean River thirty miles south of Fort Smith, Arkansas. We are approximately nine miles east of Mansfield, not far off Highway 71.
Our family seeks to return to the tradition of the small family farm, producing quality, nutritious food in a manner that protects the welfare of the animals and enriches the soil. Just like your grandparent's farm, our farm animals are not exposed to all the health dangers of modern agriculture practices. We use old-fashioned ingenuity to raise the animals in a relaxed, natural environment, but also take advantage of modern technology such as portable fencing and water systems to achieve better results. The chickens scratch in the grass and eat bugs, flap their wings and run around just like chickens are "supposed to do" but aren't allowed to do in confinement factory operations. The lambs nurse their mothers and nip at the tender, green grass. Chemicals, antibiotics, drugs, preservatives, radiation, artificial hormones, genetically modified organisms and modern practices which compromise the nutrition in the food do not fit into this picture.
The lifestyle we desire is one in which our daughter and future children grow up healthy and strong, breathing fresh air, drinking clean water and milk, eating farm-fresh foods, and working alongside us and their grandparents to learn the value of an honest, hard work ethic. We envision our customers becoming our friends, and aim to maintain those relationships for years to come.
